- ~ 2 Hours
- $45 per person (14+ years old)
Questions? call 252-305-6752 for more info
Our most popular trip is also offered on Stand Up Paddleboards (SUPs). As you paddle down Taylor’s Creek located in the East Carolina Intertidal area to the Rachel Carson Wildlife Reserve you will experience the bountiful wildlife and its history as one of the only Marine Estuaries on the East Coast where you can perhaps “walk with the wild horses” during a 1/2 hour shore excursion into the Wildlife Reserve.
This trip is perfect for families/large groups or beginners because we design each adventure to take place in concert with the natural ebb and flow of the tides so you will always have the tide at your back and have a great experience.
Beaufort SUP Lessons
Do you want to be a better Stand Up Paddler? Maybe you want to perfect your form for a SUP Yoga Class? Maybe you want to catch a wave oceanside and need the skills to paddle yourself into the surf zone? We can help.
Our Crew of ACA-accredited instructors have paddled in some of the most challenging conditions on the planet and can help you gain the confidence and strength you need to take that next challenge. You will learn the basics of the SUP, practice simple paddle strokes, and review important safety information to begin with, but if you want to take your paddle experience to the next level, that’s where we can help most.
Maybe someday soon the student will become the teacher as we are always looking for Great Instructors for our next season. Take a lesson with us and see where you can go in the sport of Stand Up Paddleboarding.
Stand up Paddleboarding: “The Feeling of Walking on Water”
Stand Up Paddleboarding is a mixture of power and grace all while taking in a vista of the natural world from the unique perspective of walking on the surface of the water.
This fun activity provides all the benefits of a good cardio workout if you like or all the peace of a yoga workout if that’s your chosen speed, it’s your choice.
And when you stand up paddleboard, or “SUP” as we like to call it, through the Rachel Carson Wildlife Reserve, you can choose your speed and course, all while you take in the pristine natural beauty of an Atlantic saltwater marsh and the coastal marine habitat that is home to the world-famous herd of “Bankers”, wild horses that are descendants of the shipwrecked stallions who washed ashore by Spanish Galleons so many centuries ago.
We offer guided trips and lessons aboard our SUP fleet through this important natural seascape found only on Eastern Carolina’s Crystal Coast.
*All trips are led by ACA certified instructors. Paddle and Personal Flotation equipment is provided, but please wear shoes that can get wet and muddy. Sunscreen, water bottles and of course a waterproof camera are all great ideas as well! Prepare in advance and your day will be one you enjoy for a lifetime!
Nature is wild and very unpredictable! You may see dolphin, birds of prey, wild horses and all sorts of really cool charismatic mega fauna. DO NOT TRY TO TOUCH ANY OF THE ANIMALS! Federal law prohibits the harassment or molestation of any marine mammals and the Wild Horses are part of the Beaufort family (That bite). Keep a safe distance from any wild animals you may see on your adventure but feel free to look and photograph to your hearts content. As a good rule of thumb, if you are close enough to touch it, that means they are close enough to touch you too – so try to keep your distance.
