OBX Brewathalon Adventure Race
Join in the fun for one of the most exciting Adventure Races on the Outer Banks!
Participants will be kayaking, running, playing corn hole and stand up paddleboarding as they compete to be the Kings or Queens of the 2017 OBX Brewathlon!
Each physical activity will be followed directly after with a recreational, traditional beer drinking game to keep it low stakes, fun and unique. The race can be split up as a team event/relay or as a one man show “Ironman” entrance.
There will be 3 heats for the Brewathlon Adventure Race: Male, Female and Relay. All heats will compete for a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finisher accolades for the Brewathlon Adventure Race by their completion times of the event. Relay teams will consist of 3 members:1 Kayaker, 1 Stand Up Paddleboarder (SUPer), and 1 Runner. Relay teams may be coed.
This year’s Brewathlon will be on Saturday, October 28 beginning at 10:00am. Following the race, the 3rd Annual Brewtag begins!
Registration opens at 9:00am on the day of the race and participants must be there no later than 9:30am. Race begins promptly at 10:00am
2017 OBX Brewathlon Adventure Race Course
The race will begin at Kitty Hawk Kayak Kayak & Surf School in Kitty Hawk with the Stand Up Paddleboard leg of the race. Participants will head North on a 1 mile loop towards Jean Guite Creek. (SUPs will be provided)
Following the SUP leg of the race, Participants will have to score 5 points in the corn hole toss before launching their kayaks for the kayak portion of the race. (Kayaks will be provided)
After scoring 5 points in the Corn Hole Toss, participants will then launch their kayaks and paddle 2 miles South through the Kitty Hawk Woods Maritime Forest Preserve towards the Kitty Hawk Boat Launch on Bob Perry Road.
Participants will then exit their kayaks and run 2.5 miles North along Bob Perry Road and Woods Road bike path to finish the race at Sandy Run Park off of Woods Road in Kitty Hawk.
After completing the race, participants will be shuttled back to Kitty Hawk Kayak & Surf School.

Cost for the event is $59 per participant, which includes an event t-shirt or $159 for a 3 person relay team and event shirts for each participant.
Parking for the event will be at Kitty Hawk Kayak and Surf School in Kitty Hawk.
Participants are asked to bring the following: Water, Sunscreen, Bathing Suit, Towel, Change of Clothes and definitely bring the Spirit of Gnarlyness!!!
