June 10 – 11, 10 am - 4 pm. 24th Annual Rogallo Kite Festival. Jockey's Ridge State Park (mp 12.5), Nags Head. The Rogallo kite festival will continue honoring Francis M. Rogallo, NASA scientist and inventor of the Flexible Wing. This two day festival will feature our signature kite flying on the dunes. June 14. Wil-Bear Wright’s Festival of Fun. Kitty Hawk Kites (mp 12.5), Nags Head. Wil-Bear Wright lands at Kitty Hawk Kites for a day filled with fun activities for the kids. Make and fly your own kite, try yo-yo stunts, get your face painted, free balloons, free candy and lots of fun! July 15-16. 28th Annual Wright Kite Festival. Wright Brother’s Memorial (mp 8), Kill Devil Hills. This kite festival is enjoyed by all ages with casual competitions for kids and adults. Participate in the stunt kites demos, games, kids kite making, and contests. Kids can make and fly their kites at the base of the memorial where flight began. July 22. Kitty Hawk Kites Hatteras Kite Festival. Come fly at Kity Hawk Kites at Hatteras Landing near the Hatteras Ferry Docks. Join in the stunt kite demonstrations. There will be exhibitions, casual competition, and games for kids from mid-morning to mid-afternoon for this kite festival.
