19th Annual Kites with Lights and Hangin’ with Santa

Nags Head, NC (December 2008) - With the holiday season right around the corner, Kitty Hawk Kites is excited to announce its annual holiday festivities: Hangin’ with Santa and Kites with Lights. These two events have been expanded this year to include a new celebration, Thanksgiving on the Dunes, which will help kick off the holiday season.

The holiday events begin at 10am with Thanksgiving on the Dunes on Thanksgiving Day, November 27th. The Tennessee Wind Militia will be flying kites on Jockey’s Ridge until 5 p.m. Stop by Jockey’s Ridge during Thanksgiving to watch kites of all shapes and sizes fill the air. Large show kites will also be displayed on the dunes throughout the day. The Tennessee Wind Militia will continue to fly on Jockey’s Ridge the following two days, Friday, November 28th, and Saturday, November 29th. Flying will take place each day from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. 

In addition to the Tennessee Wind Militia, Hangin’ with Santa will take place on Friday and Saturday.  Santa will visit the Kitty Hawk Kites store in Nags Head from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.  Visit Kitty Hawk Kites in Nags Head to help welcome Santa to the Outer Banks and take advantage of a great photo opportunity.

The nights during this event are also packed full of fun and excitement.  Friday evening, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., the YMCA will host an indoor fly for the Tennessee Wind Militia.  Come and view kites fly inside with no wind!  This is an unusual sight and is definitely worth seeing.  Saturday evening is the annual Kites with Lights event, held by Kitty Hawk Kites.  Beginning at sunset, illuminated kites will fill the sky above Jockey’s Ridge.  This magical night is filled with numerous kites dancing to favorite holiday songs.  Kitty Hawk Kites is providing free hot cider and cookies inside the store for all spectators during the event.
