4th ANNUAL PIRATE FESTIVAL ON THE OUTER BANKS OF NORTH CAROLINA

Outer Banks, NC (September 2009) -Put on an eye patch and draw a sword as pirates invade the Outer Banks during Kitty Hawk Kites’ 4th Annual Outer Banks Pirate Festival Sept. 16-19,2009.

Area businesses have joined forces with Kitty Hawk Kites to feature several “Pirate Invasions” at their locations.  Beginning on Monday, Sept. 15, and continuing throughout the week, pirates will make special appearances at various businesses along the Outer Banks.

Blackbeard and his crew plan to entertain customers at Kitty Hawk Kites locations from Corolla to Hatteras every day during the Pirate Festival. Blackbeard's First Mate will lead children on a treasure hunt at the Kitty Hawk Kites store in Nags Head and at the Kitty Hawk Kites store in Corolla. Dates and times for these treasure hunts has not be set.

Blackbeard's Crew plans to cause a stir at the Jolly Roger in Kill Devil Hills from 6 – 8 p.m. during one night of the week.   Restaurant guests will have the opportunity to interact with the pirates during their meals.

Pirates will feast at other local Outer Bank's restaurants throughout their stay. Roanoke Island Festival Park is expecting an invasion to take place on Friday, September 18th. Crew members will duel, fight, sign autographs and more.

The Outer Banks Pirate Festival will conclude Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Kitty Hawk Kites store in Nags Head. From 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., visitors will step back in time as Blackbeard and crew set up their encampment. The pirates will recruit new crew members, pillage and plunder, and battle with cannons. The infamous scalawag school will be held throughout the day to train future pirates. This is the perfect way to celebrate, as September 19th, 2009 is "National Talk Like A Pirate Day."

As always, the Kitty Hawk Kites store in Nags Head has the best selection of pirate gear, including T-shirts, flags and gifts to help celebrate this new Outer Banks tradition.
