Waiver Requests

Our activities tend to fill up, so we encourage you to make your reservation early, especially if you plan to come in June, July, August, September, or during a holiday. While walk-ins are welcome, there is no guarantee space will be available without a reservation. We do not take reservations for kayak rentals, we rent on site on a first come first served basis.

Payment

We require full payment at time of reservation so be prepared with a credit card when you call. Your card will be charged the same day, we do not hold spots. We accept Visa, Master Card, Amex, and Discover. If you want to pay by Cash or Check you must make your reservation at one of our retail stores or activity sites. You may pre-pay for your activity on-line, but you must still call to reserve a date and time for your activity. Prices are subject to change, so confirm the rates at time of reservation.

Cancellations and Refunds

We will provide a full refund for cancellations made at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled activity. No refund will be given for cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to activity. If you must cancel with less than 48 hours notice, we will reschedule your activity or provide you with a wind check so that you may book at a future date.

Weather Policy

If we should have to cancel your activity due to weather, we will reschedule your activity, issue you a wind check, or provide you with a refund for the part of the activity you were unable to complete. No refund will be provided for the ground school portion of Beginner Dune Lessons as this activity takes place regardless of weather. Note: if you were booked on one of our packages, and part of your activities are cancelled due to weather, and you opt for a refund, you will be charged regular price for the activities you completed.

No Show Policy

NO REFUNDS will be given if you fail to show up for your activity. We will reschedule your activity or issue you a wind check.

Age and Weight Requirements

There is no minimum age requirement for most of our activities, however a parent must fill out a waiver for children under the age of eighteen (18). You may download waivers prior to coming if you will be bringing nieces, nephews, friends of the family, etc. Simply have the parent sign the waiver and bring it with you to your activity. On kayak tours, children too young (under 12) to paddle themselves will be required to ride in a tandem kayak with an adult. On the Jet Boat Dolphin tours children must be able to sit by themselves. You must weigh about 85 lbs and no more than 225 lbs to participate in the dune lessons. There is a maximum weight of about 230 lbs for tandem hang gliding.

Wind Checks

A wind check is a non expiring voucher which allows you to schedule your activity for a future date if you are unable to complete your scheduled activity and cannot reschedule during your stay on the Outer Banks. Wind checks do not have to be used by the person to whom they were issued - so don't lose them. Kitty Hawk Kites is not responsible for lost or stolen wind checks. If you have a wind check and would like to schedule your activity, simply call reservations, book your date and time, and tell your reservationist you have a wind check.
