Central Beaches Kayak Eco-Tours
Kitty Hawk Bay Kayak Tour
See where Wilbur and Orville arrived on the Outer Banks for the first time in 1900, and learn the story of the first powered flight in history. A mix of narrow canals and open water make this a perfect tour in any weather. Bald eagles, egrets, and otters are just a few of the animals that can be found in this peaceful environment. End your tour with a spectacular sunset over the Albemarle sound.
Safari River Maritime Forest Kayak Tour
Experience another world as you paddle through this amber colored creek under a canopy of live oaks and Loblolly Pines. Let our guide teach you about maritime forests and other different zones that make up a barrier island. Reptiles such as turtles and snakes are very common in this area, as well as birds such as herons, egrets, woodpeckers, and kingfishers, and ducks. This is a great tour even on windy days due to the shelter provided by the tall trees of the forest.
Bodie Island Kayak Tour
Join us as we explore the northern end of the beautiful Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Follow our guide through the intricate marsh creeks that will lead us in search of the abundant wildlife this area has to offer. Several shallow ponds make great homes for various species of ducks, as well as different wading birds such as egrets and herons. A sunset over Roanoke Island is a great way to end another perfect day on the Outer Banks.
Roanoke Island and Lost Colony Kayak Tour
Ponder the fate of the lost colony as you paddle through the marshy canals of Roanoke Island. This is an excellent tour for beginners, because we place a greater emphasis on basic kayaking skills. Learn about kayak design, getting in and out safely, and basic paddling strokes. The tour leaves from the Manteo Waterfront and has excellent photo opportunities of the Elizabeth II (a replica of the original 1584 sailing ship), downtown Manteo, and the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse. Once we reach more open water, you get a great view across to Jockey's Ridge Sand Dune and Nags Head Woods.
Alligator River Kayak Tour
Your tour guide will lead you through stretches of lily pads, open lakes, and narrow streams that wind through a forest of cedar and cypress trees. Take a step back in time as you paddle through Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge. Come with us and explore the red waters and “living fossils” of the cypress swamp. You may catch a glimpse of some of the elusive wildlife that lives in the swamp as well as some of the relics from another time. Not only will you hear tales of the logging settlers of Buffalo City, you will also learn about the history behind one of prohibitions biggest moonshine capitals. The wildlife refuge is only 15 minutes from Mante and is the northern most home of 10 to 12 foot American Alligators. A wide variety of other reptiles like turtles and frogs, and birds such as herons, egrets, woodpeckers, and even a couple of bald eagles call this refuge home.
Kayak Fishing Charters
Kayak fishing has become one of the most popular things to do in a kayak and we are fortunate to have some of the best waters around for doing it. Join our experienced guides as we search the sound for hungry trout, drum, flounder, striper, and any of the many other species of fish that inhabit our inshore waters. We will supply all the equipment needed, including fishing rod and tackle, and let you in on some of our favorite fishing holes. We use special kayaks rigged with several rod holders and other features designed to simplify the experience and make sure you don't let the big one get away.
