We use unsinkable sit on top kayaks that handle better in the open ocean environment.

  • Minimum age of 13.
  • Paddling experience is recommended.
  • Participants must know how to swim.
  • Max weight of 250 pounds.

Surf Kayak Lessons

We offer private and group surf kayak lessons for people who want to learn how to surf kayak, or as we call it, sedentary shredding. Helmets, life jackets, surf kayaks and paddles provided. The instructor will enlighten you on the dynamic ocean environment, paddling techniques, judging and catching waves and paddle bracing. Your instructor knows the best sand bars for beginner and intermediate surf kayaking. These 1.5 hour lessons will have you paddling out, catching waves and even turning.

I think for the price of the kayak tours you get a lot. It's really amazing that the price includes equipment, an instructor, and a 2-3 hours of kayaking.

Every time I have the opportunity to come to the Outer Banks I always book a kayak tour. It is an essential part of my visit. Due to really positive experiences kayaking with KHK I have considered buying my own kayak so that I can kayak around my local areas (Buffalo, NY).
