Jockey’s Ridge State Park is one of the best places to learn how to hang glide in the world. Although it may be a slightly colder during the winter months of December, January, February and March, conditions for hang gliding are ideal on the tallest natural sand dune system on East Coast. The Outer Banks is known for wind, and the Sand Dunes offer consistent winds and fewer students, which allows more more personalized attention and usually quicker progression toward your Hang I Pilot rating.
Hang gliding lessons take place every day, year-round on the dunes at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM (weather permitting and excluding Christmas Day). Why wait for the spring or summer months, when you can start or continue your training now?!
