3rd ANNUAL PIRATE FESTIVAL ON THE OUTER BANKS OF NORTH CAROLINA

Outer Banks, NC (September 2008) -Put on an eye patch and draw a sword as pirates invade the Outer Banks during Kitty Hawk Kites’ 3rd Annual Outer Banks Pirate Festival Sept. 15 – 20.

Area businesses have joined forces with Kitty Hawk Kites to feature several “Pirate Invasions” at their locations.  Beginning on Monday, Sept. 15, and continuing throughout the week, pirates will make special appearances at various businesses along the Outer Banks. 

Captain Jack Sparrow will entertain customers at Kitty Hawk Kites locations from Corolla to Hatteras during the week. Captain Jack will lead children on a treasure hunt at the Kitty Hawk Kites store in Nags Head at on Monday, Sept. 15, at 4 p.m. and again at the Kitty Hawk Kites store in Corolla on Wednesday, Sept. 17. 

Thursday, Sept. 18, Captain Jack, along with his crew, will cause a stir at the Jolly Roger in Kill Devil Hills from 6 – 8 p.m.   Restaurant guests will have the opportunity to interact with the pirates during their meals.

Pirates will feast at Big Al’s diner beginning at noon on Friday, Sept. 19.  After, the crew will invade Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo from 2 - 5 p.m. to celebrate National Talk Like a Pirate Day. Captain Jack and his crew members will duel, fight, sign autographs and more. To wrap up Talk Like a Pirate Day, Captain Jack and his crew will finish off the night at the Kitty Hawk Kites store in Nags Head for a free movie night.  Beginning at 8 p.m., Jack’s favorite movie, “Pirates of the Caribbean,” will play outside on a sixteen-foot inflatable screen.

The Outer Banks Pirate Festival will conclude Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Kitty Hawk Kites store in Nags Head. From 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., visitors will step back in time as Captain Jack and crew set up their encampment. Jack and fellow pirates will recruit new crew members, pillage and plunder, and battle with cannons. Jack’s infamous scalawag school will be held throughout the day to train future pirates.
