🎣Fishing Adventures

Docked at Wanchese Marina | Captain John

Ready to ride the waves and chase big fish beyond the sound? Climb aboard the Carolina Blue, a powerful 25’ Lookout center console that delivers both comfort and capability—from shallow water casting to chasing red drum offshore. With a seasoned local like Captain John at the helm, you’ll get expert guidance and a completely personalized experience on every trip.

Whether you’re after a relaxing family outing or a serious day targeting trophy fish, the Carolina Blue’s wide beam and stable ride make it the perfect platform. A hydraulic scissor bracket lifts the boat for skinny water access, while its deep V-hull punches through the surf when it’s time to head out into the ocean. Featuring a spacious layout, sight-casting tower, top-tier MeatHog tackle, and ample seating fore and aft, this boat is ready for whatever kind of adventure you’re after.

To make the most of your off-shore fishing adventure, be sure to pack:

  • Food & Drinks – Bring enough to keep you fueled and hydrated throughout the day.

  • Sunscreen – The sun can be strong out on the water, even early in the morning.

  • Weather-Appropriate Clothing – Layers are key! Mornings can be cool, and afternoons warm up quickly.

  • Cooler Space – You’ll want room to take home your fresh catch!

  • Tip for the First Mate – A 15–20% tip is customary and greatly appreciated.

We usually reel in more than enough fish to go around, and one thing’s for sure—you’re in for a fun, memorable day on the water. It’s not often we come back empty-handed!

When you step aboard the Carolina Blue, you’re not just hopping on a fishing boat, you’re starting a custom-tailored adventure. Captain John isn’t just a seasoned Outer Banks fisherman; he’s a storyteller, a teacher, and a guide who’s just as excited as you are to get lines in the water. Before you even cast your first line, he’ll connect with you to understand your group’s goals; whether that’s getting the kids on their first fish, sight-casting for cobia, or chasing big drum in the ocean.

This boat is a dream for families and friends looking to explore both the calm backwaters and the deeper ocean blue. It’s roomy, stable, and equipped with top-quality gear, so you can focus on the fun while the Carolina Blue handles the rest.  Whether you’re brand new to fishing or a saltwater veteran, you’ll finish the trip with a camera full of memories and maybe even a cooler full of dinner.

Carolina Blue
The Carolina Blue is a 25-foot Custom Carolina-style center console designed for versatility across inshore, nearshore, and offshore fishing adventures. With high sides, a deep-V hull, and a hydraulic jack plate, she’s built for stability in rough seas and agility in shallow water. Powered by a 225 HP Honda four-stroke and equipped with a tower for sight casting, Carolina Blue combines performance with precision. Custom rods by Nick Walke, tackle by MeatHog Fishing, and full Coast Guard safety gear, including an EPIRB, ensure every trip is both productive and secure. Operated by Captain John and docked at Wanchese Marina, this boat is perfect for anglers looking to chase everything from red drum in the sound to mahi offshore.

🎣 Carolina Blue — Captain John Welch

Captain John Welch brings both craftsmanship and passion to the helm of the Carolina Blue. After moving to the Outer Banks in 1997 and working for a local boat builder, John discovered the region’s rich saltwater fisheries and was instantly hooked. His freshwater fishing roots run deep, but it’s the thrill of OBX inshore, nearshore, and offshore angling that keeps him on the water every chance he gets. With a deep knowledge of local waters and a calm, friendly demeanor, Captain John creates a fishing experience that’s equal parts laid-back and action-packed. If you’re looking for a captain who knows the fish and knows the boat—because he helped build them—you’re in great hands with John.
