Join Kitty Hawk Kites and the Wright Brothers National Memorial as we celebrate the legacy of aviation and the joy of kite flying at the 47th Annual Wright Kite Festival!

Held on the historic grounds where Wilbur and Orville made their legendary first powered flight in 1903, this family-friendly festival invites you to experience the wonder of flight—this time, on the end of a kite string.

  • Massive 30–100 ft. kites flying high over the memorial grounds

  • Free stunt and power kite lessons led by expert instructors

🎟 Admission:

Entry to the Wright Brothers National Memorial is $10 per person (ages 16+).
All kite festival activities are free with park admission.
The park is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.


✅ Tips for Attending:

  • Bring sunscreen and apply often—it’s sunny out there!

  • Stay hydrated by bringing a water bottle or grabbing drinks from vendors

  • Dress for the weather in lightweight layers and comfy shoes

  • Pack a beach chair or blanket to relax and enjoy the show overhead

Please note, admission to the park is $10 for ages 16+, but participation in the kite festival is totally FREE!

Yes! We encourage all furry friends to come; we just ask that animals be leashed. Per Wright Brothers Memorial National Park regulations, all pets are required to be leashed while on National Park property.
