How long does the battery last? +

Each e-bike offers an impressive range of 45 to 65+ miles, depending on the bike model, riding terrain, and level of pedal or throttle assist used.

Where can I ride my e-bike in the Outer Banks? +

You can enjoy your e-bike on:

  • Side streets
  • Paved bike paths
  • The shoulders of Beach Road (NC 12)
  • Nags Head Woods Road

Please note: Riding on the 4-lane bypass (US 158) is not permitted for safety reason

Is a helmet included with my rental? +

Yes. Every e-bike rental includes a helmet and a small carry bag at no additional charge to ensure your safety and comfort.

Can I bring a child on the ride? +

Yes—child seats are available to rent for an additional $45. They’re great for families looking to explore the OBX together.

Is a bike lock included with the rental? +

Bike locks are available as an optional add-on for $4. We highly recommend a lock if you plan to stop at shops, restaurants, or other attractions during your ride.

Can I add a basket to my bike? +

Absolutely! A front basket can be added for $10, perfect for carrying water, snacks, beach towels, or small bags while cruising around the Outer Banks.

Are there weight or height restrictions? +
  • Roadrunner 2: Recommended Height of 4’11” to 6’2″ and max capacity weight of 300lbs 
  • Radster: Recommended Height of 5’7″ to 6’5″ and max capacity weight of 370lbs

Payment:
Full payment is required to book your reservation. Kitty Hawk Kites does not “hold” spots without payment. Your card will be charged when you click “Accept” on the confirmation page. We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express, and Discover. If you want to pay by cash or gift card, you must make your reservation at one of our retail stores or activity sites. If you are unsure of where the nearest reservations facility is, please call 1-877-FLY-THIS.

Prices are subject to change, so confirm the rates at time of reservation.

Weather:
Weather changes frequently and unexpectedly on the Outer Banks, and many weather forecasts are inaccurate. Due to these factors, weather related cancellations by will likely not occur until very close to time of the scheduled reservation. Should Kitty Hawk Kites cancel your scheduled activity due to unsafe weather conditions, you will be offered the chance to reschedule your activity or provide you with a refund for the portion of the activity you were unable to complete.

Note: If you were booked on one of Kitty Hawk Kites activity packages, and one (or some) of your activities are cancelled due to weather, and you opt for a refund, you will be charged regular price for the activities you completed.

Customer Reservation Changes:

Cancellations – Should the purchasing customer request a refund, Kitty Hawk Kites will provide a full refund for any request that is made at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled activity. No refunds will be given for customer cancellations made within the 48 hours before the scheduled activity. Ground school is not refundable.

Reschedules – Customers may request to reschedule or wind check their scheduled activity to a future time or date at any time up until the day preceding their scheduled activity. Same day rescheduling shall not be permitted.

Late Arrivals & No Shows – Customers that arrive late for their scheduled activity or do not show up for their scheduled activity will not be rescheduled or refunded.
