SURF LESSONS

Surf Lessons are one of the best ways to connect with the ocean at the Sanderling Resort. Surf Classes start at age 7 and are available nearly every day in small groups at the main beach access at the resort. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED as the space is limited and surfing is extremely popular! Due to the demand, we will not be offering private instruction at the Sanderling Resort this year. Group sizes are usually between 2-4 students per instructor and last about 1.25-1.5 hours.

SANDERLING RESORT KAYAK TOUR

Explore the salt marshes on the soundside of the resort through the Pine Island Audobon Preserve. This is a flatwater, beginner level kayak tour that is about 1.5-2 hours in length. Morning tours and Sunset tours are the usually the best time to be on the water. Single and double kayaks are available, and children 5-12 years old must paddle with an adult. If you want to paddle on your own, we also offer Kayak Rentals by the hour.

TANDEM HANG GLIDING

Have you ever dreamt of flying like a bird? Tandem Hang Gliding is literally that experience! You can fly to 2000' or a mile above the Outer Banks for a bird's eye view of the area. Your certified instructor will give you a basic lesson while you fly so that you can learn what it feels like to fly.

BEGINNER HANG GLIDING AT JOCKEY'S RIDGE

We've been teaching Hang Gliding Lessons for nearly 50 years at Jockey's Ridge State Park! The soft sand and consistent coastal breeze make this the perfect place to learn to Hang Glide. We teach students all year and offer lessons as young as 4 years old. Kid's lessons are for anyone that is less than 100 lbs or under 13 years old. We should be able to teach kids and adults in the same class!

VINEYARD VOYAGE IN DUCK

Take a memorable trip across the Currituck Sound to Sanctuary Vineyards in Jarvisburg, NC from our Duck Kitty Hawk Kites Store. Your cruise will lead you through the beautiful canals and historic hunting area of Dews Island just off the Currituck County mainland. You'll be personally escorted to Sanctuary Vineyards straight from the dock to taste and sample the fine locally grown and bottled NC wine. Due to the shallow waters that we have to navigate the vessel is a 25' flat bottom Jones Brother's Bateau. Trips depart Monday - Friday mid-May through mid-September.

DOLPHIN TOURS IN NAGS HEAD

Take a 2 hour cruise aboard one of the three Dolphin Tours conducted by the Outer Banks Center for Dolphin Research Center. A marine biologist will educate you about the local dolphin population that migrates here annually between May and October. This is a great educational experience and is perfect for groups of any size. The Phoenix and the Safari are located in Nags Head and the Miss Bodie Island departs from Manteo. Each of the trips goes to see the same dolphin so pick the one that make the most sense for your schedule. Each boat has a bathroom on board.

COROLLA WILD HORSE TOURS

Our wild horse tour features a unique and memorable two-hour round-trip North toward Carova Beach and False Cape State Park near the Virginia – North Carolina border. Stumps rising from the sand along the ocean bare silent witness to the early existence of an ancient maritime forest. Picturesque scenery and unscheduled appearances of wildlife offer many photo opportunities. Availability is VERY limited due to this tour being very popular. Online bookings are permitted more than 1 week in advance. Call us to check availability within one week.
