🐟 Fishing Adventures

Docked at Wanchese Marina | Captains Michael & Greg

Looking for that hidden honey hole only locals know about? Then climb aboard the Southern Run, a 24’ Bayrider built for sneaking into the skinny waters of the Outer Banks, where trophy fish roam in just inches of water. Guided by lifelong local anglers Captain Michael or Captain Greg, this boat is your gateway to a private, quiet, and action-packed day in the marshes, bridges, and inlets of Wanchese and beyond.

With a flat-bottom hull and shallow draft, the Southern Run glides into the tightest corners of the OBX backwaters—places most boats can’t even reach. A high tower provides exceptional visibility for sight fishing, while top-tier MeatHog gear ensures you’re ready when the fish bite.

To make the most of your off-shore fishing adventure, be sure to pack:

  • Food & Drinks – Bring enough to keep you fueled and hydrated throughout the day.

  • Sunscreen – The sun can be strong out on the water, even early in the morning.

  • Weather-Appropriate Clothing – Layers are key! Mornings can be cool, and afternoons warm up quickly.

  • Cooler Space – You’ll want room to take home your fresh catch!

  • Tip for the First Mate – A 15–20% tip is customary and greatly appreciated.

We usually reel in more than enough fish to go around, and one thing’s for sure—you’re in for a fun, memorable day on the water. It’s not often we come back empty-handed!

Southern Run
The Southern Run is a 24-foot Kencraft Bayrider center console tailored for shallow water and backwater exploration, ideal for relaxed inshore trips and family-friendly excursions. Launched in 2016 and powered by a 200 HP Yamaha, she features a center console tower, protective curtains for comfort, and a 36-volt trolling motor to quietly access tight, fish-filled spots. Outfitted with top-shelf electronics, custom gear by Nick Walke and MeatHog Fishing, and full safety equipment, the Southern Run offers a smooth and flexible ride in the calm sounds and creeks of the Outer Banks. Docked at Wanchese Marina, this boat is your ticket to laid-back coastal fishing with big rewards.

🌊 Southern Run — Captain Michael Goetsch & Captain Greg Sherman

Captain Michael Goetsch is a 20-year Outer Banks local whose love of fishing has taken him across both coasts and back again. With experience in both commercial and recreational fishing, Michael brings a seasoned perspective and a passion for teaching others. Whether he’s navigating a quiet backwater or chasing a hot bite in the sound, Captain Michael is all about sharing the fun and forging memorable moments on the water.

Captain Greg Sherman is a lifelong Outer Banks fisherman with over 47 years of experience exploring the region’s inshore waters. Guided early on by his father and inspired by close friends and family, including Captain Kelly, Greg made the leap to professional guiding to do what he loves full time. Dedicated, patient, and full of energy, he takes great pride in helping anglers of all skill levels have an unforgettable trip. From casting tips to local stories, Greg’s goal is to make your day on the Southern Run both fun and fulfilling.

Climbing aboard the Southern Run is like slipping into the secret world of the Outer Banks, the one only locals usually know about. With Captain Michael or Captain Greg leading the way, you’ll be guided into quiet, shallow waters teeming with fish, far from the busy marinas and crowded piers. These captains don’t just know where the fish are, they know how to make your day on the water relaxing, fun, and unforgettable.

The Southern Run is perfect for those who want a laid-back but thrilling experience: families with kids, beginners trying fishing for the first time, or anglers who love the challenge of the flats. It’s high-sided and safe, with plenty of room to spread out and cast, and a tower that lets your captain spot fish before they even know you’re there. You’ll chat with your captain before the trip to plan the perfect outing, and if your schedule shifts? No problem, they’ll do their best to accommodate.

This isn’t just fishing, it’s an easygoing, custom-crafted adventure that lets you slow down, soak in the OBX scenery, and reel in fish where few others can go.
