and more! 2009 Family Fun Events and Kite Festival ScheduleAPRILApril 10th & 11th - Kitty Hawk Kites Fly Into Spring and Easter Eggstravaganza - Kitty Hawk Kites in Nags Head, North Carolina combines the annual “Fly Into Spring” event with the “Easter Eggstravaganza” to create one large celebration for National Kite Month! The new spring event will be held April 10th and 11th, from 10:00am to 4:00pm at Jockey’s Ridge State Park, home to the largest living sand dune on the east coast, and the Kitty Hawk Kites store in Nags Head, located across the street from Jockey’s Ridge. With fresh spring air and the famous Outer Banks wind, participants won’t want to miss the first event of 2009! April 18th - 19th - HQ Kites World Tour - Outer Banks - On April 18th stop by Jockey's Ridge State Park for demos and lessons with all the newest power kites from HQ Kites. MAYMay 15th - 18th - 37th Annual Hang Gliding Spectacular - Jockey’s Ridge State Park & Jockey’s Ridge Crossing (mp 12.5), Nags Head. World’s oldest continuous Hang gliding competition. Hang gliding pros from all over the world come to the Outer Banks to compete and have fun on Jockey’s Ridge State Park. Demonstrations, street dance and awards ceremonies are all features of this spectacular event. Families can enjoy a rock climbing wall, hang gliding simulator, kite making, face painting and a visit by Wil Bear Wright. A portion of the events proceeds will go to benefit Friends of Jockeys Ridge, a non-profit organization which supports the development of Jockey’s Ridge State Park. The Rogallo Kite festival, presented by Kitty Hawk Kites, will continue honoring Francis M. Rogallo, NASA scientist and inventor of the Flexible Wing. This two day festival will feature our signature kite flying on the dunes of Jockey's ridge as well as nightly entertainment celebrating the history of kiting. Spectators can anticipate a 50' scuba diver, 100' octopus and other large specialty kites flown throughtout the event. Throughout the two day festival, there will be exhibitions and demonstrations including stunt and power kite lessons, free children's games and activities, and much more! JULYJuly 11th - 12th - 31st Annual Wright Kite Festival - Wright Brother’s Memorial (mp 8), Kill Devil Hills, presented by Kitty Hawk Kites. This festival is enjoyed by all ages with a spectacular kite show put on by Larger than Life Kites. Come see a 100ft. Octopus, 50ft Scuba diver and many other dance in the air during this jaw dropping event. There will also be stunt kite demos, games, kids kite making and contests. AUGUSTAugust 8th - The 10th Annual Kitty Hawk Kites Ocean Games and Surf Kayak Competition –The waters of the Atlantic await the best sea kayakers on the coast as they show what they've got! You won't want to miss this one...come watch these high adrenaline kayakers take to the water. Proceeds of the registration will benefit a local environmental charity. In addition to the surf kayak competition, spectators can enjoy Ocean Games, including a sandcastle competition, kite and toy demonstrations, and trial runs in the newest kayaks offered! Hawk Kites (mp 12.5), Nags Head. This four day event kicks off on Wednesday,
with community events happening all over the Outer Banks. Enjoy
Pirate history, storytelling, reenactments, shows. The culmination of
a fun filled week of events will be on Saturday September 19th at the
Kitty Hawk Kites Store, MP 12.5, Nags Head. Enjoy everything Pirate; entertainment,

OCTOBEROctober 17th - 18th - 23rd Annual Outer Banks Stunt Kite
Competition - Wright Brothers Memorial (mp 8), Kill Devil Hills, presented
by Kitty Hawk Kites. This competitive fly is on the Eastern League Circuit
for sport kite flying and is also sanctioned by the American Kiting Association.
Throughout the weekend non-competitors can enjoy workshops, demonstrations
and kite making for kids. The highlights of this event include graceful
kite ballet competitions set to music, and fast paced team flying that
