With over 30 years of combined parasailing experience, our professional team is dedicated to safety and fun. Every parasail excursion is led by U.S. Coast Guard-licensed captains and supported by CPR-certified crew members, all of whom have completed intensive parasail safety training.

Unlike other companies, your parasailing boat is located right where you check in—no shuttle boats or extra stops required. After a brief safety video, you’ll head straight to the boat and be in the air within minutes.

Staying in Corolla, Duck, Southern Shores, or Kitty Hawk? You’re just a short drive from our Duck Village parasailing launch. Located at Kitty Hawk Kites in Duck, this spot offers the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation.

Parasailing in Manteo, NC

If you haven’t explored the Manteo Waterfront, now’s your chance—and there’s no better way to see it than from the sky. Located just 15 minutes from Nags Head, this hidden gem delivers unforgettable scenery and a welcoming small-town vibe.

Fly up to 900 feet behind our OBX Parasail boat and enjoy panoramic views of the Roanoke Sound, Jockey’s Ridge, Roanoke Island, Colington Island, and even as far as Bodie Island Lighthouse on clear days.

Our 12-passenger parasail boat in Manteo is ideal for families and larger groups. We also offer guaranteed observer seats on the first boat of the day, making it easy for non-flyers to join the adventure.

What should I wear for a parasailing trip in the Outer Banks?

We recommend wearing casual beach attire such as a bathing suit, shorts, and sandals. Depending on weather conditions, you may also want to bring a sweatshirt or windbreaker. A towel and a bottle of water are also good items to have on hand.

Can I purchase photos or videos of my parasailing experience?

Yes, photos are available for purchase directly through the parasailing team. Please note that all photo packages must be paid for with cash.

Is gratuity included in the parasailing ticket price?

Gratuity is not included. While tips are never expected, they are always appreciated. Our crew works hard to provide a safe, fun, and memorable experience for every guest.

Do I need to make a reservation in advance to parasail?

Yes, reservations are strongly recommended. Parasailing is a popular activity in the Outer Banks, and space is limited. While we may be able to accommodate walk-ins, availability cannot be guaranteed without a reservation.

How long does the full parasailing experience take?

The entire parasailing experience lasts approximately one hour from start to finish. Each individual or group flight is typically 10 to 12 minutes in the air.

How many passengers can go on each parasailing boat?

At our Duck location, we can accommodate up to 6 passengers per trip.
At our Manteo location, up to 12 passengers can be accommodated per trip after May 1.

Do I need any prior experience or athletic ability to parasail?

No experience or athletic ability is required. If you can sit, you can fly. Our trained crew handles all technical aspects—just sit back and enjoy the view.

What are the age requirements for parasailing?

The minimum age to parasail is 5 years old. Children under 10 must fly with an adult.

Are there weight restrictions for parasailing?

Yes. The minimum combined weight is typically between 150 to 175 pounds, and the maximum combined weight is between 300 to 400 pounds. These limits may vary depending on wind and weather conditions.

When is parasailing offered during the year?

Parasailing is offered seasonally from April to September, weather permitting.
Manteo location: April through September
Duck location: May 15 through September 15

How much does it cost to go parasailing in the Outer Banks?

What is the difference between a single, double, and triple parasail flight?

  • Single Flight: One person flying solo

  • Double Flight: Two people flying side by side

  • Triple Flight: Three people flying together (subject to crew approval)

What is the difference between a deluxe, extreme, and ultimate flight?

  • Deluxe: 400 feet of rope, approx. 200 feet above the water

  • Extreme: 600 feet of rope, approx. 300 feet above the water

  • Ultimate: 800 feet of rope, approx. 400 feet above the water

Each option offers a different height and perspective of the Outer Banks coastline.

Can I ride along as an observer without parasailing?

Yes.
At the Duck location, observer seats may be available for $35 per person if space allows. Observer reservations are not accepted here, and flyers have booking priority.
At the Manteo location, observer spots are guaranteed on the first boat of the day. After that, availability is first-come, first-served. Observer reservations for Manteo can be made by phone or in person.

Will I get wet during the parasailing experience?

You may stay dry, but it depends on conditions and personal preference. If weather and weight allow, you may opt for a light dip known as “toes to nose.” Occasionally, landings in the water may occur due to weather or safety.

Do I need to know how to swim to go parasailing?

No swimming ability is required. All participants wear U.S. Coast Guard-approved life vests. Children under 12 are also required to wear flotation devices while onboard.

Is it safe to parasail while pregnant?

For safety reasons, we do not recommend parasailing for anyone more than three months pregnant.

How long has OBX Parasail been operating in the Outer Banks?

OBX Parasail, LLC has partnered with Kitty Hawk Kites for over a decade. We are a locally owned and operated business with locations in both Duck and Manteo.

What is your parasailing safety record?

We have maintained an impeccable safety record with zero parasailing accidents. We follow all WSIA (Water Sports Industry Association) safety guidelines and provide a safety video to all participants. Our crew uses top-of-the-line equipment and is thoroughly trained.

Are your captains and crew certified?

Yes. All captains are U.S. Coast Guard licensed. All crew members are certified in CPR and First Aid. Combined, our team has more than 30 years of experience in the parasailing industry.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made within 24–48 hours of the scheduled flight can be rescheduled. Same-day cancellations and no-shows are non-refundable. For full details, please review our cancellation policy or call our reservations team at (252) 441-4124.

Can I bring my own camera on the parasail flight?

You may bring your own camera, but please be aware that you do so at your own risk. We are not responsible for lost or damaged personal property.

What type of parasailing equipment do you use?

We use Winch Direct Parasailing, the safest and most widely accepted method. Takeoff and landing happen directly on the boat’s flight deck, not from the beach or a floating platform. We strictly follow the FAA maximum altitude limit of 400 feet.

Where are your parasailing locations in the Outer Banks?

  • Duck location: 1226 Duck Road, Duck, NC 27949 (convenient for guests staying in Corolla, Duck, Southern Shores, or Kitty Hawk)

  • Manteo location: 307 Queen Elizabeth Avenue, Manteo, NC 27954 (just 15 minutes from Nags Head, offering scenic views of Roanoke Island and beyond)

Are waivers required to participate?

Yes, all participants must sign a waiver. Participants under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign on their behalf. Waivers are specific to each location:
