At the Cotton Gin - 6957 Caratoke Hwy - Jarvisburg, NC 27947

Fly to altitudes of 2000 ft. or higher with a certified instructor from our tow site at Cotton Gin in Jarvisburg. The views of Currituck Sound, the ocean, and the surrounding countryside are breathtaking from these altitudes. Once released from the tow plane, the only sounds are from you, the instructor, and the wind flowing around you. These elements, combined with stalls, dives, and turns, are sure to make tandem hang gliding the most exciting and memorable experience of your stay in the Outer Banks.

In tandem hang gliding, the student and instructor are hooked into the glider together. The glider is designed specifically for tandems with a larger wing area for more lift and tricycle landing gear to simplify take offs and landings. An ultralight plane tows you to altitude, the glider is released, then you and your instructor glide back to the airport where you land like a plane

Directions to the Tandem Hang Gliding Location

We're excited to now be able to provide tandem hang gliding instruction at the Cotton Gin -- a location much closer to the Outer Banks than our Currituck County Airport operation. The address of the Cotton Gin is 6955 Caratoke HWY (HWY 158) Jarvisburg NC 27947. It is approximately 10-11 miles north or the Wright Memorial Bridge that connects Kitty Hawk to the Currituck County mainland. The Cotton Gin is easy to identify because of its iconic windmill/wind turbine. It's located on the east side of HWY 158, which is on the right hand side if you are heading north. As you come to the Cotton Gin, you will want to park in the north parking lot and follow signs for hang gliding. We will have someone available to greet you. Backup Location

Occasionally we will use the Curritcuck Airport as a backup site to the Cotton Gin in Jarvisburg. The Currituck Airport is located in Maple, NC. We will notify you if this is the case. Plan on your tandem hang gliding flight being at the Cotton Gin in Jarvisburg.
